Within 24 hours of announcing a “Flattening” in the epidemiological curve of the coronavirus, the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, said from Bucaramanga that “It is urgent to increase the immediate preventive isolation in the population, in order to reduce the contagion curve”.
Visibly concerned about the situation in Santander, the official reported that the virus in that region “It has entered an expansive stage, with a growth in the contagion curve”.

“It is imperative to make a great effort, to be able to contain the outbreak in the best conditions”, said Minister Ruíz, at the conclusion of a meeting of the PMU, in which the situation was reviewed.
The increase in cases in cities such as Barrancabermeja, Bucaramanga and the municipalities of the metropolitan area, led the Minister of Health to make a peremptory call for the permanent use of masks.
He also asked that at the slightest suspicion or symptoms such as fever, malaise or headache, people must isolate themselves immediately, as well as their families, to contain the virus.

According to the official report, There is an ICU occupancy of 78.38% and a risk distribution concentrated in the number of cases in the younger population, from 20 to 29 years with 20%, from 30 to 39 with 23%, from 40 to 49 with 16% and 50 to 59 with 14%.
The distribution of deceased is concentrated in those over 70 years of age with about 75%.
