Minsalud against the coronavirus pandemic

The Health Minister, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, stated that the spread of the new Covid-19 coronavirus in the different regions of the country has a different transmission speed, since there are cities that go further and others that are more delayed.

“There are cities that go further ahead such as Cartagena, Barranquilla, Cali and Bogotá, while there are other cities that are more delayed in the face of contagion. With this information, what we do is that the health authorities act and take measures to mitigate and control the transmission of the virus, ”he said.

For this reason, he stressed that it is important not to let down your guard and maintain physical distance. “In this time of economic opening the community must understand that if we do not comply with these measures in the opening we will not be able to contain the contagion,” he said.

Faced with the protection measures, the head of the Health portfolio was emphatic that physical distancing, hand washing and the use of face masks continue to be the best prevention measure against the disease, which this Friday accounts for 84,442 infections and 2,811 deaths in Colombia.

“To the extent that the epidemic is contained and the impact rate is kept low, focused containment actions such as those carried out in Barranquilla, Leticia and Cartagena may be activated,” he said.
