He The Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported that vaccination campaigns against influenza and Covid-19 will begin in March.
He Undersecretary of Public Health, Cristóbal Cuadrado, indicated that “During the month of March we are going to start our winter campaign, in which we prepare for the respiratory contingency, which we have winters every year.”
“Among the pillars of our preparedness response to all winters is vaccination against influenza and also, this year, in conjunction with bivalent vaccination against Covid-19”, added.
So far 2,028,765 people have been vaccinated with the annual dose against the coronaviruswhich means that 24.37% of the population that is sought to be reached has been covered.
He former Undersecretary of Assistance Networks, Luis Castillo, in conversation with Radio Biobío, held that “There is a delay and a slowdown in vaccination with the bivalent vaccine in risk groups that is very worrying; I believe that the effort should be put into trying, as quickly as possible, to vaccinate the population at risk and the elderly”.
In this line, the professional of the Examedi platform, Benjamín Pizarro, emphasized that “it is difficult to say with certainty what is the reason for this decrease in the vaccination rate. One of the reasons that could be explaining this is a drop in the perception of risk against the Covid virus.
“It would be recommendable that (the government) once again emphasize risk communication and that the population once again become aware of the risk of this pandemic,” he added.
