Minsa: the health brigades bring vaccines closer to the population

The vaccine is approaching the population with the firm purpose of protecting girls, boys and adults from diseases such as covid-19, pneumococcus, hepatitis B, HPV, among others.

With the beginning of the year, the vaccination brigades have bet, not only on vaccination in health facilities, but also on bringing the vaccine to itinerant points such as markets, bus stops and places with high traffic of people, a strategy that has been always successfully apply to the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

One of the recurring points in the north of Lima is the Naranjal metro station, where a health brigade has immunized more than 300 people in a single working day, in addition to this scenario the brigades have gained space with the support of other public and private institutions and local administrations to bring the vaccine closer to the citizen.

“We must continue to protect the population, these are opportunities that we cannot miss, if the children are on vacation let us take advantage of this moment so that they are immunized at the beginning of the school year,” said María Elena Martínez, director of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health.

“We are watching on television and on social networks how hospitals in China are saturated due to the increase in infections, we have free, safe and effective vaccines and we are one of the countries in the region that has the best vaccination scheme, it is demonstrated in all senses that the vaccine is the best weapon of protection,” he said.

Similarly, Ms. Martínez reported that after four years, the goal of vaccinating 216,290 girls with two doses of the HPV vaccine, thus protecting them from the virus that causes cervical cancer, has been achieved. “With the start of the school year, we will also vaccinate fifth graders with the HPV vaccine,” she said.
