Minsa: November 25, 26 and 27 will be the Third National Vaccination Day | News

As part of the various actions to increase vaccination coverage, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) has announced the Third National Vaccination Day for this November 25, 26 and 27, in which 17 vaccines against 27 diseases will be offered.

Through a statement, the ministry urged mothers and fathers to bring their daughters and sons to receive the measles vaccine at the nearest health center. This vaccine, which also protects against rubella and mumps, is applied in two doses at 12 and 18 months.

In the event that the minor misses a dose, parents can call the free line 113 for more information. The vaccines are safe, effective and of high quality, indicated the Minsa.

Measles

With regard to the possibility of reintroducing diseases such as measles or polio into the country, the Minsa specified that Peru has been free of measles since 2019 and wild virus polio since 1991.

Given the case of measles, detected in Ecuador, it is detailed that the National Center for Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Control (CDC Peru) has intensified the epidemiological surveillance of this disease in the northern regions of the country.

Likewise, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (INS) is prepared for the timely diagnosis of any suspected case.

In addition, the epidemiological surveillance of cases of flaccid paralysis and vaccination to prevent the reintroduction of polio into the country was intensified.

Regarding the Regular Scheme vaccination process, the ministry led by Kelly Portalatino reports that the measles advance at the end of October is 60.29% in the first dose of the SRP vaccine.

Although -he specifies- the coverage is greater than in the years of the pandemic, 2020 and 2021, it is still necessary to complete the protection in the population to avoid the risk of this disease returning to the national territory.
