The Ministry of Health (Minsa) expressed concern about the low participation of Peruvians in the vaccination process against COVID-19. According to its director of Immunizations, María Elena Martínez, About nine million people in the country have not received the third dose of the vaccine.

The gap between those immunized with the booster dose and those who only have two increases with the start of application of the fourth dose, which starts at the national level this Monday, April 4. In addition, in the case of children it becomes more evident, since, of the 4.2 million minors in the countryonly little more than half have received the first dose.

It is worth mentioning that the minsa has been doing an immunization day of 36 uninterrupted hours in Limawhich began this Saturday at 7:00 am and will continue until 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 3, with the aim that the population over 12 years of age catch up on their vaccinations against COVID-19.

FOURTH DOSE IN LIMA AND CALLAO

Starting today, Saturday, April 2, the application of the fourth dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 began in the people over 70 years of age and with immunocompromise, residing in Lima and Callao.

“Who else should be vaccinated? The immunocompromised: in this case, people who have been transplanted and people with oncological problems, people with HIV; but it must also pass five months after the third dose. They should check (their vaccination card) and come,” Martinez maintained.

The inoculation of the fourth dose will be carried out with vaccines from the Pfizer and Moderna laboratories, the official explained.

It should be noted that people over 70 years of age and with immunocompromise must have received the third dose more than 5 months ago in order to be inoculated with the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Finally, the public official reported that this Sunday, April 3, the vaccination of health personnel in Lima and Callao will begin; and in the course of the week it will be extended to the other regions of the country.
