Minsa installed Coordination Commission for the National Week of Fight against Cancer | Government | Dina Boluarte | PERU

The Ministry of Health (Sometimes) reported that it has established the Coordination Committee for the National Week of the Fight against Cancer, as part of the collective efforts to intensify the prevention of this disease in Peru.

This commission, made up of various sectors and ministries such as Education, Women and Vulnerable Populations, Inclusion and Social Development, Labor, and the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (DOWN), has as its main objective to inform, educate and raise awareness about cancer promotion and prevention interventions, taking into account the specific characteristics of the Peruvian population.

Essy Maradiegue, executive director of the Cancer Prevention and Control Directorate of the Sometimeshighlighted the relevance of this initiative in the fight against cancer.

“The establishment of this Commission is a fundamental step to promote the prevention and treatment of cancer in our country, addressing the specific needs of our population,” Maradiegue said.

Through Supreme Decree No. 010-2024-SA, the Peruvian Government approved the Regulation of Law No. 31006, which establishes the third week of October of each year as the National Week of the Fight Against Cancer.

During the installation of the Commission, Dr. Berrospi, Institutional Head of INEN, and representatives of the Ministries of Education, Midis, Mimp and MTPE, together with their heads of communication, were present.
