Minrex statement on the death of the kidnapped Cuban doctors – 2024-04-15 19:44:44

Almost two months having received the news of the alleged death of Landy Rodríguez Hernández and Assel Herrera Correathe Cuban doctors who were kidnapped five years ago in Kenya, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) issued a statement in this regard stating that the information was still uncertain.

The statement, shared by the official press, recapitulates that the news of the alleged bombing that ended the lives of the doctors occurred on February 17, which initiated an “investigation” by the regime.

“Minrex statement: Five years have passed since the vile and absurd kidnapping of Assel and Landy. On February 17, the harsh and worrying news was received about the alleged death of our two compatriots, victims of an air attack by United States military forces operating in Somalia,” the statement begins.

The note points out that, despite multiple attempts by the Castro government, it has not been able to obtain more information on the matter, making it practically impossible for them to reach a solid conclusion.

“Despite multiple efforts by the Government of Cuba, it has not been possible to obtain information or evidence that would allow us to reach definitive conclusions,” adds the Minrex.

Finally, the Cuban regime indicated that it would continue working with the United States to clarify the facts, despite the fact that Cuba blames the North American government for the doctors’ alleged deaths. The statement concludes by stating that the island’s authorities were going to continue seeking information about the doctors’ last whereabouts, despite the fact that they could not find them in almost half a decade.

“Our Government continues to communicate with the US Government in search of information,” the official letter concludes.

This response, far from calming the people, generated indignation due to the way in which the Castro government blamed the United States for everything, since this is the justification it uses to explain every negative event on the Island.

“Conclusion: everything is the US’s fault. What a novelty”; “Now the culprits are the United States, when you could not pay the million dollars they asked for the ransom! But to steal 90% of Cuban doctors’ salaries, yes? and “With what Gil stole, they would have paid the ransom,” were some of the comments.
