Minors express what motivated them to get vaccinated against covid-19 – Prensa Libre

Minors accompanied by their parents or a caregiver attend this Saturday, October 2, the vaccination center in Gerona, in zone 1 of the capital.

On Thursday, September 30, the Ministry of Health enabled the registry for the vaccination against covid-19 of minors between 12 and 17 years old.

In social networks, Health reported that the website vaccina.gob.gt has been enabled for the registration of pre-adolescents, so that they receive the vaccine against the disease.

Marisol Juárez, in charge of the vaccination center in Gerona, reported that on Friday they began to vaccinate adolescents between 12 and 17 years old “with or without morbidities”, although giving priority to adolescents who suffer from some comorbidity.

He said that ideally they should be registered, but if they are not there yet, at the time of vaccination they can be registered. He indicated that minors have to arrive accompanied by a father, mother or legal guardian.

The requirement is to present a birth certificate and a photocopy of the person in charge of the Personal Identification Document.

He indicated that they are given the Pfizer vaccine and today “we have a super high influx” and they hope that this will continue this Sunday and the rest of the week.

He announced that due to the issue of rotation, next weekend they will not open in Gerona, but it corresponds to other vaccination centers.

He reported that they have cared for children with disabilities, and cancer survivors, among others, so that from the moment they enter the minors are redistributed and given priority.

He stated that they are on demand and have sufficient doses. They are also serving adults.

Family losses

Rudy Alejandro Vela Jiménez, who arrived with his 15- and 16-year-old children at the vaccination post in Gerona, stated that the objective is to eradicate this disease that has affected worldwide.

He added that there are many people who may not want to be vaccinated, “but the truth is that we have had family losses and we know the importance of getting vaccinated.”

He recalled that at the beginning his son told him that he would not be vaccinated, but due to the advance of the disease and what has been seen, they both decided to register them.

Vela said that registration was easy and then they went to the said vaccination center.

“I think it is important that we get vaccinated,” said the father of the family, who added that the use of a mask, hand hygiene and distance is important.

Minors’ testimonies

Andy Eliezer Vela, 15, Vela’s son, said that with the vaccine it is safer because he is always aware of the possibility of contagion.

He added that even if you are vaccinated, you must follow prevention. “At first I did not believe that about the vaccine because I thought it would harm me, but since everyone got it and there was nothing wrong, I feel that it is fine,” he said.

He expressed that he misses the face-to-face classes, “I feel like I’m going to go back to normal little by little.”

“That they get vaccinated because it brings more good than bad consequences, because apart from having protection there will be no bad things,” he added.

Keren Victoria Rodríguez Gómez, 15, said she was vaccinated because she also wants to take care of the health of her mother, her family and her young nephew. “I also want to take care of my health because I have respiratory problems, so it is better to prevent covid, then I come to get vaccinated to take care of my family,” he said.

He asked young people “to arm themselves with courage because the vaccine is something good for our body.” He said he is “a little scared” by the reactions because his mother was vaccinated and her arm hurts.

Elizabeth Gómez, Keren’s mother, stated that this disease is dangerous and that “what we want is for our children to be well.”

He added: “He urged the population to come and bring their children, it is not dangerous, it is one more vaccine, as well as all the vaccines that we have given to our children, so I wheat my baby so that she is more covered with this vaccine ”.
