Dibrugarh (Assam). Four people, including a minor, have been arrested after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. Police gave this information. Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Papori Chetia said that the incident took place on Sunday night in a village in Banipur area of Dibrugarh city.
He said, ‘The victim was a resident of Makum in Tinsukia district and was living with a woman for the last three months. We got information that the minor has committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. However, on reaching the spot, our team found the body lying on the bed, which raised doubts.
He said that on the basis of preliminary investigation and statements of the local people, four people including a minor were arrested and further investigation is on. He told that all the four arrested accused are also local.
Chetia said that forensic samples have been collected from the house where the body was found and sent to the laboratory for testing, while the body has been sent for postmortem. He said, ‘We are ascertaining the entire facts. But we have so far arrested four people in the case. One of them is a minor.
