Minnesota’s Marcus Johansson Finds His “Mojo” with Two Goal Performance – Post Christmas Victory

NEW YORK. Marcus Johansson seems to have found his “mojo” again…

He scored two more goals, and played up to one more, as Minnesota danced out Christmas last night with its fourth straight victory.

– It’s really special to feel how the weight lifts off your shoulders as soon as you score a goal, says the 33-year-old Skåne to Sportbladet after the 6-3 triumph against Detroit.

Similar to Rickard Rakell, who we talk about in a similar article right here, Marcus Johansson has earlier in the season been what in North America is called the “snake bite” in terms of endings.

He put a puck in in October, but then there were no more goals until just before the Christmas break.

Just like in the case of Rakell, however, it seems that it was just what was needed for a regular ice break.

Against Detroit at home in the Xcel Energy Center last night, the Wild Swede scored two fine goals – and played until another one, signed by Ryan Hartman.

– Yes, of course it feels good that it came off like that, says “Mojo” when we talk to him afterwards.

– It’s really special how the weight lifts off one’s shoulders as soon as you get to score a goal. When things don’t go your way, you lose confidence in the endings, but now it’s back and then it sort of goes by itself.

“Then anything can happen”

Joel Eriksson Ek also provided an assist in a fight that the Wild eventually won 6-3, with which they took two points in four games in a row.

– Nothing started tonight, it was like it usually is the first game after the Christmas break. Then anything can happen, Marcus continues.

– But in the second and third it got better, given the circumstances, I think we play a good match.

In the box, Filip Gustavsson was again excellent and stopped 25 shots.

– He is incredible, so calm and confident. It is not at all noticeable on him that there is any pressure, praises compatriot Johansson.

Jonathan Berggren and Simon Edvinsson had assists on one of Detroit’s goals and for the latter it meant the first point in the NHL this season.
