– On the 4th, the Ministry of Unification announced that the final call between the Joint Liaison Office of North Korea and South Korea had taken place normally.
Previously, the call to start work hadn’t happened at 9am the same day, so there was a chance that North Korea was intentionally cutting off contact, but it’s clear that that’s not the case.
A Unification Ministry official replied: “We are currently investigating if it is due to a technical problem such as a communication line failure, etc.”
In peacetime, the two Koreas regularly hold an opening call at 9:00 am and a closing call at 5:00 pm every day through the Joint Liaison Office channel.
Earlier, on June 28, the inter-Korean communication line temporarily shut down due to heavy rain on the Korean peninsula, resulting in an accident, but was restored in one day.
