Books – Muhammad Nassar:
The Ministry of Transport issued a new statement regarding the phenomenon of littering on the roads, after the statements of the Minister of Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, regarding handing over those who throw garbage on the Ring Road to the Military Prosecution.
The Ministry of Transport clarified a number of points in its statement, saying that:
1. Waste dumped on the ring road is not garbage, but remnants of demolishing solid buildings and throwing it on the road endangers the lives of citizens who use the road. Even if it is garbage, this is negative behavior and contradicts the aspiration of Egyptians to preserve the different roads of their country.
2. The Public Authority for Roads and Bridges has contracted with specialized companies to remove rubbish and non-solid waste on a daily basis. However, these wastes that were monitored on the ring road are remnants from the demolition of solid buildings that endanger the lives of citizens, accidents and loss of life.
3. During the recent visit of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, last Tuesday, corresponding to 5/8/2023, to the work sites of the second phase of the project to develop the ring road around Greater Cairo, it was noticed that the remnants of building demolition were spread on both sides of the road in the places that have been developed to serve the citizens. And facilitating their various movements, which endangers the lives of citizens and leads to accidents and loss of life, and this is national security.
And the ministry continued: The minister directed the head and leaders of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges to activate the control officer authorized to carry out legal enforcement to arrest violators who dump demolition waste on the ring road and hand them over to the competent prosecution in order to eliminate this phenomenon completely, especially since the Egyptian state has monitored road projects, including the road. The Ring Road provides large sums of money to contribute to raising the level of service for users of these roads, including the Ring Road, reducing accidents on them, increasing safety and security rates, preserving the lives of citizens, accommodating the large volumes of traffic flowing on them, reducing travel time, reducing energy consumption for vehicles, as well as reducing negative environmental impacts.
The Ministry of Transport appealed to citizens to participate with it in raising awareness of this dangerous negative behavior that endangers the lives of citizens, accidents and loss of life, and the need to immediately report any transport vehicle that dumps building demolition waste on various roads, including the Ring Road.
