Ministry of Trade: Fair Price of Packaged Cooking Oil Rp19,000-Rp25,000 per liter : Okezone Economy

JAKARTA – Ministry of Commerce reveals fair price cooking oil packaging. The Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Oke Nurwan, said that the fair economic price of packaged cooking oil is around Rp. 19,000-25,000 per liter and applies to all types of brands.

“The average is that much. So if someone sells in that price range, it’s still reasonable. Because the price of cooking oil now follows the market economic price,” said Oke Nurwan to MNC Portal, Monday (21/3/2022).

“I estimate the fair price is at Rp 19,000-25,000 per liter, from bulk to premium. For example, if there is a sale on the market above that, the risk will not be bought by the public,” he continued.

Okay, explaining that the economic price is the combined cost of buying crude palm oil/CPO, production costs, and brands are no exception. Thus, the price of cooking oil in the market will be different from one another.

“Basically, the economic price is the market price. The market consists of supply and demand. This means that even though there is a lot of supply, the demand is slightly different. So the current price is purely the market price. Each brand has a different price,” he explained.

So, continued Okay, if people currently find the price of cooking oil varies, it’s because the producers are trying to win the hearts of the people. Compete with other brands.

“So there is a premium movement that may be sold for under Rp. 25,000. Why is that? Because they want to win the hearts of the people. If they sell Rp. 27,000 per liter, yes, yes. But do people want to buy it? That’s it,” he concluded.
