Ministry of Tourism projects a 15% increase in foreign visitors for Holy Week – Diario La Página – 2024-03-16 01:11:14

The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, pointed out that as an institution they have projected a 15% increase in foreign visitors for this Holy Week.

“Tourism projections for Easter foresee the entry of 126,000 international visitors in that period, 15% more than in 2023, who would leave around $110 million in foreign currency income. Regarding domestic tourism, 4.2 million visitors are expected in the different tourist sites throughout the country,” highlighted the minister.

The United States is one of the main visitors, and at this point not only are Salvadorans abroad, but also Americans who are increasingly interested in visiting different destinations in the country.

The new generations are looking for experience and the country is one of the favorites with its varied offer, among which Surf City stands out with a wide range of options for those who like the beach, adventure parks, but there are also other volcano tourism points, and other options in high demand.

“The development of the tourism sector is the result of how society is in terms of health, in terms of education, in terms of connectivity, in terms of access to energy and drinking water, in terms of human talent and good services. We will be able to develop the tourism sector if everything else goes well,” the official added.

The World Tourism Organization placed the country within the top five of the tourist destinations that have grown the fastest after the covid-19 pandemic. This sector is becoming more dynamic even faster than planned, increasing between 35% and 40%, when the projections were between 15% and 20%.
