Ministry of the Interior Rejects Criticism of Budget Cuts at Federal Agency for Civic Education in Berlin

Berlin: The Ministry of the Interior has rejected criticism of cuts at the Federal Agency for Civic Education. According to a spokeswoman for the ministry, the federal government’s draft budget ensures that important projects to strengthen the well-fortified democracy can also be effectively continued in the coming year. Fighting right-wing extremism will remain a central task. In the budget for 2024, around 20 million euros less are earmarked for the federal headquarters. The CDU politician Röttgen therefore wrote online of a “fatal signal with dramatic effects”. The Left MP Domscheit-Berg spoke of “money saved in the wrong place”. That is “dangerous”.
