Following the closure of the vaccination centers in Baden-Württemberg on September 30, 2021, vaccinations against the coronavirus will in future be carried out mainly by the established medical profession. For this purpose, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health and the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBW) issued a joint declaration of intent on Wednesday (September 29), with which they the cooperative cooperation of the state and the contract doctors of the KVBW for the vaccinations against the coronavirus underline from October 1, 2021. The company doctors also continue to participate in the vaccination campaign.
“For a transition period of three months, 30 mobile vaccination teams will be deployed in Baden-Württemberg in a regionally balanced manner to support the established medical profession. In addition, we will integrate the existing vaccination buses in the country, where desired, into our national concept, ”said Health Minister Manne Lucha.
The mobile vaccination teams will continue to use part of their capacity for on-site vaccination campaigns. In some municipalities, these are also carried out, as before, by doctors in private practice. On-site vaccinations are an important point of contact for people without a family doctor, for young people who travel a lot, and for people who have not yet been able to vaccinate for other reasons.
Offer is continuously evaluated
With the support of the municipal state associations, the ministry and KVBW want to continuously evaluate vaccination services in the state from October 1st. If necessary, additional measures are taken. If bottlenecks objectively occur in individual regions, the KVBW will first contact the local medical community in order to expand the range of vaccinations through them. If that is not enough, the country will specifically increase the additional vaccination offer with supplementary mobile vaccination teams.
“In the meantime, around 70 percent of people aged 12 and over in Baden-Württemberg have been completely vaccinated. Doctors in private practice have already played an important role in this. This is a good basis for making the paradigm shift in supplying the population with vaccinations: From October, the main responsibility for vaccinations rests with the general practitioner, and therefore in very good hands – as with all other vaccinations. People can rely on the fact that vaccinations will continue to be offered across the board and safely in Baden-Württemberg. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the vaccinators with all their very committed employees. Together with the state, local authorities and doctors in private practice, you have made a significant contribution to the vaccination campaign from the start, ”said Health Minister Manne Lucha on the occasion of the signing of the declaration of intent in Stuttgart.
“Our members, the registered contract doctors, are aware that they will continue to be challenged, and now increasingly, when implementing the state vaccination campaign. They will be very responsible for their tasks. If there are occasional bottlenecks in the supply of vaccinations, we are in close coordination with the state and our members and will take countermeasures accordingly, ”emphasized the chairmen of the KVBW Dr. Norbert Metke and Dr. Johannes Fechner.
When signing the declaration of intent, the minister and the representatives of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians made it clear that the measures to combat the coronavirus must continue unabated.
“We will continue our efforts to increase the vaccination rate in the country. Unfortunately, especially among the population under 60, there are still many people who are not yet protected. For example, those who are still unsure can find www.dranbleiben-bw.de/aufklaerung lots of information about vaccination. I call on everyone to get a vaccination now – to protect themselves and others, ”the minister appealed to the population.
The chairmen of the board of the KVBW Dr. Metke and Dr. Fechner joined the minister’s call for vaccinations and emphasized: “Even if you have not yet had a family doctor, the door to the doctor’s practice in your area is open to you and you will receive your vaccination by making an appointment. Perhaps this is now a good incentive to look for a general practitioner in whom you can trust. We generally recommend this – not just in the event of illness. In addition, many specialist practices also offer vaccinations against the virus. “
Data on the current balance of the vaccination centers
In the past nine months, 8,241,462 million vaccinations (first and second vaccinations) were carried out in the vaccination centers (as of September 28, 2021). This means that around 60 percent of all vaccinations in Baden-Württemberg took place in the vaccination centers. The maximum possible capacity of the vaccination centers was around 80,000 vaccinations per day. May 7 and May 21, 2021 were the busiest days in the vaccination centers with 61,768 vaccinations each. The vaccination centers and the connected mobile vaccination teams also took place as part of the campaign #Stay onBW over 2,100 on-site vaccination campaigns.
