SANTANDER, 5 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC) has published this Monday the aid order, worth 124,000 euros, which the Ministry of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and the Environment allocates this year to improve the production and marketing of honey in Cantabria.
Within the framework of the Apiculture Sectoral Intervention included in the National Strategic Plan of the CAP 2023-2027 and co-financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEAGA), the subsidies are aimed at cooperatives and beekeeping organizations and the holders of this type of exploitations that carry out their activity since before January 1 of this year, with the exception of those that have acquired said ownership due to the death, retirement or incapacity for work of the owner.
The individual amount of the aid may not exceed the cost actually executed and will be set according to the classification of apicultural farms, with the maximum limits of 600 euros for self-consumption farms; 3,000 euros for non-professional farms, and 18,000 euros for professional farms.
In any case, the activities and investments made by applicants from August 1 of the year preceding the call for aid until July 31 of the current year will be eligible, with the exception of this year 2023, which will last between January 1 and July 31.
The activities and investments that can be subsidized with this type of aid are the provision of information and technical assistance to beekeepers and beekeepers’ organizations; the fight against the attacks and diseases of the hives, in particular against varroasis; the rationalization of transhumance; support measures for bee product analysis laboratories to help beekeepers market and value their products; measures to support the repopulation of the beekeeping herd, and the improvement of the quality of the products to exploit their potential in the markets.
Applications must be submitted in the registry of the Councilor, in the regional offices or in any of the places permitted by law within a period of one month from the day following the publication of the extract of the resolution in the BOC. .
Among the requirements to be eligible for this type of aid, the justification of having carried out at least one treatment per year against varroa disease between the months of September and November of the previous year stands out; have civil liability insurance; have made the annual census declaration before March 1 of the current year, and comply with the provisions of the apiculture regulations in force.
In any case, those abandoned apiaries and dead hives, or those that do not indicate the farm identification code, will not be entitled to receive aid. Those that are not registered in the registry of beekeeping operations of Cantabria or those that exceed the maximum authorized capacity for each registered settlement will not be eligible for aid either.
Regarding the amount, the 124,000 euros will be 50% co-financed by the FEAGA, 25% charged to the General State Budget and 25% charged to funds from the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.
