Ministry of Religion is working on a minimum cost of Umrah travel packages for prospective pilgrims from Indonesia in the midst of the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19) can be less than Rp. 26 million.
Previously, the Decree of the Minister of Religion (KMA) Number 777 of 2020 regulated the reference fee for organizing Umrah pilgrimages (BPPIU) during the pandemic at Rp. 26 million. The regulation was signed by the Minister of Religion for 2019-2020, Fachrul Razi last December 16, 2020.

Until now, the Ministry of Religion is still working on the minimum cost of the Umrah package with a number of parties. With a number of easing policies during the pandemic, prices are likely to experience a decline.
“Indeed, it was discussed together, point by point, how much accommodation, what airline, including the cost of quarantine,” he said.
Noer admitted that the corona virus pandemic had an impact on an increase in Umrah reference fees of around 30 percent in 2020. However, he stated that it is very likely that the current Umrah reference fee could still change again.
Noer explained that the factor that could reduce the cost of Umrah was because the quarantine of the congregation would utilize the Hajj Dormitory owned by the Ministry of Religion.
Meanwhile, the cost of Umrah is currently still considering the use of hotels for quarantine. Therefore, the price of Umrah which is currently being discussed will be more affordable because it is not being quarantined at the hotel.
Another factor, he said, was the shorter quarantine duration. Previously, Umrah packages were calculated with an eight-day quarantine period in Indonesia and three days upon arrival in Saudi.
“But now, for example, in the dormitory for 5 days. However, there are a lot of PCR,” he said.
“But we will discuss together with the association to get the most realistic cost related to the reference fee for Umrah,” he added.
