Ministry of Oil: Marcel Abeke at the helm

Libreville, Monday September 18, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – He was installed last Wednesday in his new position during a ceremony chaired by the Secretary General of the Government, Jonas Prosper Lola Mvou.

Chaired by the Secretary General of the Government, Jonas Prosper Lola Mvou, the handover ceremony between Vincent de Paul Massassa and Marcel Abéké, respectively outgoing and incoming Ministers of Oil took place on Wednesday September 13, 2023 in the meeting room of the 9th floor of the December 2 building. The outgoing, in his speech, welcomed the choice made for his successor, “a competent man full of experience”.

The new Minister of Oil, in his circumstantial speech, thanked the Prime Minister, head of government and especially the President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, for the trust placed in his modest person. Marcel Abéké has committed to giving his all in order to achieve the objectives set out in the roadmap of the country’s highest authorities. “The challenge is great,” he declared before noting that he needs everyone’s support to carry out his missions, before calling on all his colleagues to get back to work. “The time is no longer for speeches. We must manage to respond as quickly as possible, as favorably as possible to the objectives of the highest authorities,” he indicated.

An experienced technocrat, the new Minister of Oil has a mining engineering diploma and is a graduate of Polytechnique de Montréal, holds a Master’s degree in applied sciences, and is a graduate of the Institute of Management Control in Paris. Marcel Abéké has been a director of several companies (ADG of Comilog, CEO of Setrag, CEO of Comilog Asia, executive director in charge of the development of the Eramet group in Africa, etc.).
