Suara.com – The Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Manpower (Ministry of Manpower) invite
ASEAN-OSNET to jointly develop a strong commitment to the implementation of HIV-AIDS prevention and control programs in the workplace, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This disease prevention and control program in the workplace must be implemented properly to ensure the safety and health of our workers, as well as business growth,” said the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah in a statement on Wednesday (9/6/2021).
Ida reminded about the potential challenges of HIV-AIDS infection in the workplace. Because the number of cases of HIV-AIDS has increased significantly from time to time, and the data shows that most of the people infected are in their productive age.
According to him, these conditions make HIV-AIDS no longer only a health problem, but also poses a risk to socio-economic welfare, especially in the employment sector.

On that occasion, Ida expressed her appreciation to Laos as the current Chair of ASEAN-OSHNET for its success in coordinating ASEAN-OSHNET activities and programs.
As Chair of the ASEAN Labor Ministers Meeting, he also encouraged ASEAN-OSHNET to productively and actively support the development of the ASEAN labor sector with activities to achieve the goals of the ASEAN Manpower Ministers’ Work Program.
The Director General of Manpower Supervision and K3 Development, Hayani Rumondang hopes that this workshop can formulate and share experiences on HIV-AIDS prevention and control measures during a pandemic.
According to Hayani, in order for HIV-AIDS prevention and control efforts to be implemented in the workplace, knowledge and understanding, as well as attitudes of all actors in the workplace, are needed. Among the efforts that can be done is counseling and testing HIV-AIDS in the workplace (Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) at the workplace).
