Habib Rizieq Shihab admitted that he is currently a city prisoner after getting parole. However, Rizieq’s claim was rejected by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Ministry of Law and Human Rights).
“So, as of today, Habib Rizieq’s status is as a correctional client from the Central Jakarta Penitentiary and must follow guidance until June 10 2024, so. If the detainees can’t get out,” said the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti when contacted, Wednesday (20/7/2022).
Previously, Rizieq admitted that he had to go through a sensitive procedure in order to get parole. He also apologized to all parties if he didn’t know he was on parole today.

“To my friends, to all who have been concerned about our struggle, if today is not invited or do not know, or the news arrived late, please open the door of forgiveness as much as possible,” said Habib Rizieq as seen in a press conference broadcast Islamic Brotherhood Television YouTube channel, Wednesday (20/7/2022).
“There are very sensitive procedures that we go through. Just a little wrong, parole doesn’t happen,” he added.
Habib Rizieq said that he was now in the status of a city prisoner. He said he had to report regularly.
“My status is from now on as a city prisoner. So it’s not that I am free purely. I am currently a city prisoner and every month I have to make a report. And I am not allowed to go out of town, out of the island, abroad except with written permission from the designated agency,” he said.
