“Ministry of Interior Launches ‘Back to the Neighborhood’ Program to Rescue Communities and Promote Citizen Security”

Santo Domingo. – As part of the Comprehensive Citizen Security StrategyMy Safe Country”he Ministry of the Interior and Police (MIP) will launch the program on May 14 “Back to the Neighborhood”which will contribute to the rescue of these communities.

The program is promoted with the support of dozens of institutions and personalities from sport, art and culturewhich is why the MIP minister, Jesus Vasquez Martinezurged dozens of community leaders from the National District to get involved in this work and identify the people who will serve as new and better paradigms for Dominican youth.

During a meeting with the leaders prior to the launch, the official recalled that the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country”, also contributes to the rescue of neighborhoods, which ensures It is not a role that should only be assumed by the Interior and the Police, but by all of society.

“This effort that we hope all of you undertake, is not a matter of a single person or a ministry, it must be valued by the entire society”he expressed.

For this reason, the Minister of the Interior and Police stated that he hopes that after the launch in the National District of “De Vuelta al Barrio”, those impoverished sectors are visited by people who serve as paradigms and tell their story of progress.

He specified that when children and young people see figures recognized as Luisito Pie, Pochy Familia, the Queens of the Caribbean and other personalities from sports, art and culture, as well as successful businessmen and merchants will see that “yes you can” achieve success honestly, with ethics and other values.

Community leaders from Las Cañitas, Simón Bolívar, Capotillo, Gualey, Ensanche Espaillat, 27 de Febrero, La Zurza, Cristo Rey, Los Ríos, Villa Consuelo, La Hondonada, La Esperanza, Los Callejones, Los Vecinos, Guachupita, participated in the meeting. He highlighted the importance of the participation of community leaders in these strategies.

During the meeting, a plaque of recognition was delivered to the Minister of the Interior and Police for his valuable contribution to increasing citizen security, improving community coexistence and promoting rapprochement between the National Police and the neighborhoods.
