The Ministry of Health and Community Protection organized a training workshop with the aim of measuring and evaluating health vulnerability to climate change, and enhancing awareness and developing capabilities in the field of assessing and facing the challenges of climate change and its impact on health, as part of the pioneering efforts made by the Ministry to strengthen sustainable health systems and update the national framework to confront climate change. and its impact on public health in the UAE. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the regional office of the World Health Organization and a number of concerned government agencies in the country.
The workshop, which was held in Dubai, discussed mechanisms and ways to assess the risks of the effects of air pollution on health, and included the implementation of a number of group exercises for training on measuring and evaluating the vulnerability of health to climate change. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al-Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, stressed in his speech during the opening of the workshop, the UAE’s keenness to actively contribute to supporting international efforts in the field of assessing the vulnerability of health to climate change, evaluating the existing response and adaptation options in the health sector, and achieving National adaptation plan for health.
