Ministry of Health will expand testing for COVID-strain Delta

By autumn, the Ministry of Healthcare hopes to increase access to the diagnosis of the Delta strain

The ministry expects to provide all regions with access to tests for this strain of coronavirus by autumn.

Until the fall, the Ministry of Health expects to provide all regions with access to tests for the Delta strain of coronavirus. About it stated Chief Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin in an interview with Radio Liberty on Sunday 8 August.

Kuzin says that at the moment, patients with the Delta strain are being treated according to the same protocol as patients with other strains.

“Medicinal tactics will not differ in relation to any strain of coronavirus disease. Therefore, the study of this or that strain is the area of interest of epidemiologists. “, – said Kuzin.

He added that so far laboratories can detect Delta in two ways – genomic sequencing and using specific PCR systems. At the same time, only three state laboratories have opportunities for diagnostics using genomic sequencing. More than five or six such laboratories are privately owned.

“And some of the laboratories already have specific PCR systems that allow you to quickly detect precisely this mutation targeting. At the level of the Public Health Center, we have almost 2 thousand of such tests. At the regional level, we already have several thousand. And we hope that by the fall we we will be able to provide such test systems at the level of each region, “the chief medical officer summed up.

Recall that in Ukraine, the increase in new cases of COVID-19 fell… The largest number of confirmed cases were registered in the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in Kiev.

Also COVID vaccination almost 80 thousand Ukrainians walked in a day… Most of the vaccinations were made with drugs from the American companies Pfizer and Moderna – over 57 thousand.
