The Ministry of Health and Population has warned against the use of weight gain formulas that contain cortisone, stressing that they cause weak immunity, menstrual irregularities in women, and increased youthfulness and facial hair.
The Ministry of Health and Population said that it is incorrect to use the popular mixture to gain weight, stressing that it is unsafe and ineffective, and that cortisone should be used under medical supervision and in the doses specified by the doctor only.
The Ministry of Health directed citizens to avoid weight gain formulas that contain cortisone because cortisone causes weak immunity, menstrual irregularities in women, increased acne and facial hair, and also causes harm to diabetics and high blood pressure.
She pointed out that the potential side effects of cortisone injections increase with increasing doses and repeated use, and side effects can include:
– Cartilage damage
– Death of the bone near the injection
– Arthritis
– Nerve damage
– Temporary facial redness
– Temporary flare-up of pain and inflammation in the joint
– Temporary increase in blood sugar
– Weakness or rupture of tendons
– Thinning of the nearby bones (osteoporosis)
Thinning of the skin and soft tissue around the injection site
Whiten or lighten the skin around the injection site
In general, cortisone injections should not be given more than once every six weeks, and usually no more than three or four times a year.
