He Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that it has updated the protocol for vaccination against COVID-19with the purpose of gradually migrating to the use of the bivalent vaccine.
In this sense, the sector led by Minister Rosa Gutiérrez explained that the bivalent vaccine will be placed in this way:
- Adolescents, from 12 to 17 years old, should receive the bivalent vaccine as the third dose, 2 months after receiving the second.
- Adults, from 18 to 59 years old, health personnel, health science students and pregnant women, from 12 weeks of pregnancy, should receive the bivalent vaccine as a third dose, 2 months after the last dose.
- People over 60 years of age should receive 2 boosters of the bivalent vaccine, at an interval of 4 months from the last dose applied.
- People with any comorbidity (diabetes, heart disease, obesity, asthma, kidney disease, hypertensive) should receive the bivalent vaccine 2 months after the last dose.
- Immunocompromised people require 2 boosters of the bivalent vaccine, at an interval of 2 months from the last dose applied.

In that way, the Minsa asked the country’s professional health associations to call on all their members to get vaccinatedso that health workers are protected against the coronavirus.
“We urge the population to complete their doses against COVID-19, through vaccination points and health establishments throughout the country. Vaccines are safe, effective and of quality”, highlighted the Ministry of Health.
