Padang (ANTARA) – Ministry of Health expert Dr Andani Eka Putra said that until now the government has remained focused on five pillars in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The five pillars of handling are education, tracing, testing and isolation, hospital services, law enforcement and vaccination,” he said in Padang, Saturday at a webinar held by PT Semen Padang with the theme Beware of COVID-19 New Variants.
According to him, one of the strategic efforts carried out is to increase tests to 400,000 per day, carry out surveillance of suspects and close contact tracing and genomic surveillance in areas that have the potential to experience a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Then mobilize backup staff such as internship doctors, Koas and final year medical students.
Next, tighten hospital admission requirements, increase self-isolation monitoring with the use of telemedicine and 50 percent vaccine allocation in areas with high cases and mobility.
Furthermore, providing vaccination centers at airports, and making vaccine card requirements for travellers.

With regard to vaccines, Andani emphasized its goal to form reminder cells that are specific to the material or part of the virus given.
“If we are infected by a virus after vaccination, the body will quickly identify the incoming virus and fight it,” said he who is the Head of the Diagnostic and Integrated Research Laboratory for Medical Infectious Diseases, Andalas University, Padang.

In controlling the pandemic, the implementation of vaccination is part of the process of achieving herd immunity.
“Vaccines provide relative protection from population groups which is achieved by reducing or breaking the chain of transmission of infectious agents because most of the population is resistant to infection through immunization or previous natural infection,” he said.
In addition, according to him, vaccination strengthens immunity specifically. If there are vitamins and foods that can strengthen immunity, it is general, not specific. That’s why this vaccination aims to specifically protect our bodies from COVID-19.
