The pace of anticovid dose application is slowing down in Colombia. In fact, in the vaccination days of the last seven days, less than 180,000 injected anticovid doses have been reported and last Sunday a figure of 81,382 was reported, very low compared to the records of last January, when there were days of up to 300,000 vaccines applied.
At the last Unified Command Post of the Ministry of Health, The director of Promotion and Prevention of that portfolio, Gerson Bermont, pulled the ears of the EPS so that they catch up with people who have not yet completed their anticovid vaccination scheme.
“The gap can’t go anywhere near 15 percentage points,” Bermont said. The Ministry of Health is aiming to drastically reduce the portion of Colombians who only have the first anticovid dose. According to Bermont’s accounts, 31.9% of the population over 18 years of age have anticovid booster doses, for which he urged the actors of the health system to reinforce the application of these doses, since the goal is that the 100% of adults receive boosters.
“We are very relaxed and vaccination is gradually decreasing, when we have a significant amount of the population pending reinforcements,” said Bermont.

In general terms, 66.1% of people in Colombia already have the complete anticovid vaccination scheme. 81.5% of the population have at least one dose and 28.1% already have a third dose, or second in the case of people who started their vaccination with the vaccines of Janssen.

Likewise, through a statement the Ministry of Health reported that in adults “between 70 years and over, the advance of first or only doses is 98.5%, 95.3% in second or only and 55 .1% in reinforcements”.
It was also known that there are already 561 municipalities that have more than 70% of their population with complete anticovid vaccination schemes. This implies that in their territories they can stop applying the measure of mandatory use of face masks outdoors, according to the decision made by the National Government last week.
