In 30 – 40% of cases, tests for coronavirus can show a false negative result. This was announced by the freelance pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Sergey Avdeev. Moreover, this is far from due to the quality of domestic and foreign tests, but to the fact that it was done superficially or too late. At an early stage of the disease, there is a better chance of detecting an infection with a smear. Also, as Rospotrebnadzor previously informed, false-negative test results for COVID-19 may be associated with a low viral load in the patient.
