The Minsa reminds that the bivalent vaccine is the only one that is being applied to avoid serious complications due to covid-19, and that to receive this dose it is not necessary for the person to have previous monovalent vaccines.
In this regard, the Vice Minister of Public Health of the Minsa, Ricardo Peña, said that people can receive a second dose of the bivalent vaccine after 4 months since they received the previous dose.
Along these lines, he called on the population to continue getting vaccinated against covid-19 in order to avoid complications with the disease that can lead to hospitalizations or deaths.
He added that the bivalent vaccine will protect us against the latest descendant variants of the omicron, as well as all severe forms of the disease and death. He clarified that this vaccine does not prevent us from getting infected, but it does prevent us from getting seriously ill.
After confirming that 6 deaths have been reported in recent days due to covid-19, at the national level, Peña is not in a new wave of the disease, but he urged the population not to let their guard down and continue protecting themselves against the virus. , especially older adults and people with comorbidities.
