The Ministry of Health will establish the mandatory nature of the mask in health centers and hospitals from this Wednesdayonce it is communicated to the CCAA, which is expected to be at noon, as Ministry sources have confirmed to Europa Press.
This measure is taken in compliance with article 65 of the Law on Cohesion and Quality of the National Health System, that allows the declaration of coordinated actions in public health.
Health has made this decision after not having reached an agreement with the autonomous communities at the meeting of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS), which took place this past Monday, within the framework of the increase in cases of respiratory virus infections.
Thus, the order covers only hospitals and health centers, not social health centers or pharmacies, as was included in the proposal presented at the interterritorial council.
“After the pandemic suffered, we have learned and we are not resigned to the pre-pandemic figures. From this Ministry, We will continue working to minimize risks and standardize health protection“, proclaimed the Minister of Health, Mónica García, in statements to the media after the CISNS meeting.
Although there were communities that established mandatory use in these places even before the CISNSsuch as Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Murcia, others expressed their rejection and opted for the recommendation, such as Madrid and Galicia, among others.
