Ministry of Health incorporated those who are 12 years or older in the vaccination plan against COVID-19

The Ministry of Health incorporated into his plan vaccination against the new coronavirus those who are 12 years of age or older, a population that exceeds 4 million people.

By means of the Ministerial Resolution No. 488-2021 / MINSA, it will be allowed to include in the vaccination process against COVID-19 everyone in that age group.

Thus, from today the target population to be vaccinated considers 4,248,652 people between 12 and 19 years of age, with which the Updated National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 it now incorporates 27,244,203 people.

Vaccination will follow the same criteria

The Minister of Health, Oscar Ugarte, pointed out that scientific progress made it possible to verify that there are vaccines against COVID-19 that have been shown to be efficient, safe and of quality when applied to people over 12 years of age.

The Resolution also indicates that the new age group will be protected taking into account the same criteria as for the rest of the groups, that is, they will be programmed according to their age or belonging to high-risk or vulnerable groups.

In that sense, the owner of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced that the first to be vaccinated will be the population with comorbidities. The vaccination schedule will be announced in the next few days.

On a national scale, the Ministry of Health reported yesterday, July 3, that the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least one dose it amounts to 4 611 805, while citizens inoculated with two doses represent 3 263 026. In total, 7 874 831 doses applied, which will increase in the coming weeks.
