Ministry of Health in Hidalgo Continues Vaccination Efforts to Combat Influenza and Covid-19

Given the risk of contagion due to respiratory diseases such as seasonal influenza, as well as the Covid-19 virus, the Ministry of Health in Hidalgo (SSH) continues to maintain continuous vaccination actions to be able to attend to risk groups that may be exposed. to these diseases during this winter season, which ends until the month of March.

Margarita Flores Valencia, deputy director of Health Promotion, indicated that infectious diseases with worldwide distribution, their transmission pattern prevails throughout the year, with seasonal exacerbation in the winter season from October to March of each year.

He recalled that Covid-19, designated as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome due to coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2), continues to cause the death of a large number of people worldwide.

The specialist mentioned that in recent months there has been a significant increase in cases and deaths caused by acute respiratory infections, especially in people who have not decided to get vaccinated.

He stated that it is of utmost importance to apply the vaccination scheme (Influenza or Covid-19) to groups of people who have problems with obesity, diabetes, lung or heart diseases, people with HIV or cancer, girls and boys of 6 months to 5 years of age, people over 60 years of age, pregnant women and health personnel.

The Hidalgo Health Sector reminds the population that preventive vaccination is a social right and that biological vaccines help protect the population from serious diseases and prevent complications that can end in death.

Margarita Flores called on the general population to attend health units to request the influenza and Covid-19 vaccine in case they still do not have a dose or belong to priority groups.

Finally, he suggested that preventive measures continue to be applied such as washing hands with soap and water, the use of antibacterial gel, the use of face masks in case of presenting respiratory symptoms and going to receive medical attention within the first 48 hours.
