The Ministry of Health in the State of Gedaref warned of continuous diseases and deaths from kala azar in the state and counted the infections of more than 4,000 people and the death of another 93 with the disease since last year. The Minister of Health in charge of Gedaref State, Ahmed Al-Amin Adam, revealed the cases of diseases and deaths in Gedaref, which until the end of last year amounted to 3,009 cases, including 64 deaths, noting that the disease among children under the age of five reached 2,345 cases.
He confirmed that the total number of kala azar cases in his state in the first quarter of this year amounted to 956 cases, including 29 deaths. He warned of the increasing cases of disease and death due to the spread of the vector and the unavailability of treatment, food, and control and control work.

The Minister said that international and regional health interventions by his ministry and its partners with neighboring countries and the Horn of Africa by holding a comprehensive international conference to eliminate the vector and control it after the study confirms that the vector is on the border. strip and neighboring areas with several neighboring countries, through the participation of 30 international and local organizations and health partners To provide models to eliminate the disease.
He explained that his ministry will present the knowledge of treatment and control, which will be done through 13 treatment centers in the state, where free treatment, nutritional health programs and medicine are provided to those who infected.
He called on organizations and donors to effectively and eradicate the disease that has claimed hundreds of lives in Gedaref, noting that there are serious problems in implementing the campaign, which requires more than 500 million pounds – more than 300 thousand dollars.
