Ministry of Health in Durango Begins Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Campaign Alongside COVID-19 Efforts

The head of the Ministry of Health, Irasema Kondo Padilla, indicated that vaccination against seasonal influenza will begin on November 1 in all health centers in the state, which adds to the campaign against covid-19, with up to 4 thousand doses.

He emphasized that this campaign is aimed at preventing infectious respiratory diseases, with the priority being to immunize older adults and minors, although it is not a limitation so that people of other ages can also receive their dose.

The state official accepted that the biological against covid-19 for minors has not yet arrived, since there was a batch with an expiration date of 2022 that Cofepris had approved, however, the Ministry of Health in Durango has already requested a batch with expiration still in force.

Kondo Padilla recalled that the campaign against covid-19 is now permanent, so currently people over 18 years of age can go to apply either the Abdala or Sputnik vaccine, prioritizing people with comorbidities and older adults.

Likewise, he highlighted that Cofepris has already authorized the distribution of vaccines from the rest of the laboratories that manage private pharmacies, however, the Ministry of Health in Durango, attached to the national health system, will use the batches sent by the Federal Government.
