Ministry of Health Ensures Zika Virus in Humans Has Never Been in RI : Okezone Lifestyle

MINISTRY Health (Ministry of Health) helped highlight the findings of scientists who say that infection virus Zika getting serious. However, data reveals that there are no cases of Zika virus infection in humans in Indonesia.

“So far, Zika data in Indonesia has never been found in humans,” explained the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, when contacted by MNC Portal recently.

Siti Nadia continued, but it is undeniable that Indonesia had detected the Zika virus in 2016. However, the virus was detected in the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

“Our latest findings regarding the Zika virus were found in samples of the Aedes aegypti mosquito from a vector survey in 2016,” he said.

That way, said Siti Nadia, it can be said that in Indonesia there has been no Zika virus transmission to humans.

On that occasion, Siti Nadia appealed to the public to apply a clean and healthy lifestyle so that they can prevent being infected with the Zika virus through mosquitoes. In addition, efforts to prevent dengue fever can also be applied to the Zika virus.

“If the disease has a vector (source of transmission), it will be easier, because by eliminating the vector, we can break the chain of transmission,” explained Siti Nadia.

“That’s why the public is advised to continue to maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle as well as efforts to prevent the circulation of mosquitoes in the living environment,” he added.
