Ministry of Health develops plans to deal with monkeypox | Health

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Health held online training on monkeypox diagnosis and treatment for medical institutions across the country on Aug. 1, amid the number of global cases surging 22,000.

Although no cases of monkeypox have been recorded in VietnamDeputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son stressed the need for careful preparations as the risk of the disease invading the country is very high.

He asked health institutions to prepare the necessary conditions for the prevention and control of the disease, including those related to early detection and screening tests. It is also important to promote symptom communication and strengthen the training of medical institutions at all levels.

According to Nguyen Luong Tam, deputy director of the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health is developing instructions on monitoring monkeypox cases and reactivating the border epidemiological control system.

Nguyen Trong Khoa, deputy director of the Ministry of Health’s Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, said the ministry has drawn up response plans for different situations.

The monkeypox was classified as a public health emergency of international concern by the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) on July 23. -VNA
