Ministry of Health Claims Monkeypox Has Not Entered Indonesia

Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) claim monkey pox has not been detected in Indonesia. This disease is caused by the Human Monkeypox virus (MPVX) and is not a new type of disease.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, added that the Ministry of Health cumulatively suspects nine people who are suspected of being infected with this disease. However, the results of the examination showed that the seven patients were negative for monkeypox.

“For so far, in Indonesia, Alhamdulillah, there are no cases yet. We have nine suspects, but all of them are not monkeypox,” said Syahril at a press conference, Friday (26/6).

Syahril then detailed, of the nine suspected patients, seven of whom were later diagnosed through Orthopoxviridae PCR and were negative. Then one person each was diagnosed with Bullous Pemphigoid and Varicella or chickenpox.

He continued, this monkeypox disease has become an endemic disease in dozens of countries around the world.

Syahril also explained that this virus usually does not spread easily between people, but can be transmitted through close person-to-person contact or contact with items used by people with monkeypox, such as clothes, bedding, or clothing. tableware.

Furthermore, Syahril explained a number of Indonesia’s vigilance efforts against this monkeypox disease. He said the Ministry of Health had prepared a Circular (SE) to increase vigilance both in the region and the Port Health Office (KKP).

In addition, according to him, the Ministry of Health will also revise the guidelines for the prevention and control of monkeypox by adjusting the situation and developments from the World Health Organization (WHO) which contains clinical management, risk communication and laboratory management.

“And also prepare the capacity of examination and reference laboratories,” he concluded.
