Ministry of Health Begins Intensive Vaccination Day in Mexico City

Mexico City. The Ministry of Health began an intensive vaccination day on Monday, which will end on June 2, where it will apply all the biologicals of the basic scheme, such as the hexavalent, which protects babies of two, four and six months of age against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, hepatitis B, pneumonia, and meningitis; as well as the DPT, a reinforcement for four-year-old children, which were scarce in the previous months, estimating a goal of 50,000, announced the general director of public health services, Jorge Alfredo Ochoa Moreno.

At the start of the 2023 Public Health Day, at the T-III Health Center “Dr. Manuel Escontria”, located on Calle de Frontera 15, Colonia San Ángel, in Álvaro Obregón, pointed out that it is about recovering vaccination coverage in children from zero to nine years of age, in the 232 centers in Mexico City, in addition to there will be mobile brigades and 530 semi-permanent posts.

He stressed that, in this “health party” the Abdala vaccine against Covid-19 will also be applied, which has been “very well accepted, leading to 300,000 doses applied to date and by the end of the year the Mexican Patria will be available, that, like that of influenza, it will be recommended to put it on every year” and preventive measures will be carried out.

He commented that it is in the spring season, with heat and rain, where the prevention of diarrheal diseases is important through which the distribution of deworming treatments, Albendazole and vitamin A will be given and diabetes detection tests will be carried out , cancer and high blood pressure.

There are, he said, around 11,000 doses of each of the biologicals, so “we could apply up to a thousand daily doses on this day,” which will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. where rabies vaccination for pets, such as dogs and cats, will also be intensified.
