Ministry of Health Asks to be Alert, RI Reports 3 ‘Mysterious’ Hepatitis Cases Died

It was Indonesia’s turn to report a case of ‘mysterious’ hepatitis, a hepatitis infection with no known cause. There were three pediatric patients who were treated at Dr Ciptomangunkusumo General Hospital due to acute hepatitis and died.

Reports of these deaths were reported in the last two weeks until April 30, 2022. The Indonesian Ministry of Health revealed that the three were referred patients from East Jakarta and West Jakarta.

Symptoms found include:

  • Nauseous
  • Vomiting
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Yellow
  • Seizures and loss of consciousness.

The Indonesian Ministry of Health is currently investigating the causes of acute hepatitis through a complete virus panel examination. Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office is continuing its epidemiological investigation.

“During the investigation period, we urge the public to be careful and remain calm. Take precautions such as washing hands, ensuring food is cooked and clean, not changing eating utensils, avoiding contact with sick people and continuing to implement health protocols,” said the spokesman. Talk to the Ministry of Health dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, M. Epid Sunday (5/1/2022).
