The Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera, together with the Undersecretary of Public Health, Andrea Albagli, the Undersecretary(s) of Assistance Networks, Juan Vielmas, and the Coordinator of the Health Reform, Bernardo Martorell, communicated during this day with the mayors of 14 municipalities to inform them that they were selected in the second group of communes that will be integrated into Universal Primary Health Care.
“Today we have great news, we have been notifying the mayors of the 14 new communes that will enter the Ministry’s Universal Primary Care program as pioneers. This allows us to move towards a public health system that integrates, that produces social cohesion and that does not lead to the segregation of society, moving towards a dignified and timely system for all,” said the Minister of Health.
For his part, the coordinator of the Health Reform, Bernardo Martorell, indicated that this second group of communes, which join the seven announced in 2023, will allow people who live in them and who are not Fonasa, to access to the entire portfolio of services offered by the PHC, regardless of your health provision.
“We are going to accompany each of the communes with the Health Services, with the Seremis and with the Ministry team to transform Primary Care into Primary Care of Excellence,” emphasized the coordinator of the Health Reform.
The fourteen new communes that are integrated into the process of universalization of Primary Health Care are: Arica, Alto Hospicio, Tocopilla, Caldera, Illapel, Quilpué, Chillán Viejo, Curanilahue, Angol, Valdivia, Puerto Varas, Aysén, Puerto Natales and La Pintana.
In order to register and access care in the primary health centers of these communities, it is only necessary that the person lives, works or studies in one of them.
