She noted that to achieve the sustainable development goals in the field of health and reduce the global maternal mortality ratio, the United Nations Population Fund has developed a global strategy for midwifery (2018-2030) to enhance investments in midwives and the quality of midwifery care. She said that strengthening education in the field of midwifery in accordance with international standards is vital for the health of mothers and newborns. The new ones.

She pointed to the global shortage of midwives, which amounts to about 1.1 million reproductive care providers for newly born mothers, noting that global maternal deaths decreased by 38% between 2000 and 2017.

Dr. Naima Al-Qaseer, the representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, stressed the importance of codifying multiple channels of education for midwifery, improving their education and training opportunities, and coordinating efforts between all parties and giving them the required support from all directions, while updating the regulations and laws related to that. She stressed that the World Health Organization provides full support for this purpose. Developing the midwifery profession in all Arab countries, which will benefit the mother and child.
