Ministry of Health: All respiratory viruses share one symptom

Dr. Hossam Hosni, head of the Supreme Committee for Combating the Coronavirus, said that most of the viruses that cause respiratory infections are transmitted through droplets contaminated with the virus in the air, which result from coughing, sneezing, or speaking with a patient infected with the virus, noting that there are some viruses that are transmitted by Saliva path.

As Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained: “Among the most famous viruses transmitted through saliva are Rhino viruses, influenza, the emerging coronavirus, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, and Epstein-Barr virus. Respiratory viruses share the majority of the symptoms that afflict the patient, which… The most common are sneezing, mild fever, headache, sore throat, cough, muscle aches, and decreased appetite.”

A Ministry of Health spokesman revealed that most people usually recover from respiratory viruses without needing special treatment, but people with serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing must seek medical care.
