Ministry of Foreign Affairs Greenlights Travel Advice for Paris – No Special Safety Risks

Feb 21, 2024 at 2:38 PM Update: 26 minutes ago

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has greenlighted the travel advice for Paris again. At the beginning of December, it was tightened to yellow, but according to the ministry, there are currently no special safety risks in the French capital.

The French government had already lowered the threat level to the second highest level last month. This has been at the highest level since October 2023.

According to the French authorities, there is still a chance of an attack in major French cities. That is why there is still extra security in many busy places. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises in its travel advice for France to be vigilant in busy places and to follow the instructions of the French authorities.

The travel advice for Paris was tightened in December after a fatal stabbing incident near the Eiffel Tower. The man arrested for that stabbing incident is said to have sworn allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. With the stricter travel advice, the ministry warned of “possible violent attacks”.

The travel advice for the rest of France has remained green in recent months. Now that the travel advice for Paris has been weakened again, the travel advice is the same for the entire country.
