The Forstern primary school was one of 37 in Upper Bavaria to be recognized as a sports primary school. That’s why there is an additional physical education lesson for the first year.
Forster – Sporting activities and healthy eating have been key elements in the curriculum at the Forstern primary school for years. For these efforts, rector Annett Taubert was recently awarded the certificate for the profile “Fit and healthy – we are a sports primary school” on behalf of the Neubiberg school family by Education Minister Michael Piazolo and the president of the Association Bavarian state sportswoman, Jörg Ammon.
(By the way: Everything about the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)
According to a press release, a total of 37 new Upper Bavarian sports primary schools – in the district of Erding not only Forstern but also the primary schools Fraunberg, Moosinning and Taufkirchen – were awarded “for their outstanding commitment and creativity in areas of sport, exercise and healthy eating”. For his schooling, Taubert mentions yearly swimming lessons in the 3rd and 4th grades and ice skating. The Run Fit program is also an important annual activity, and working with community clubs is also a key element.
“Now that the Corona situation no longer forces us to limit contact in this way, we would like to revive the cooperation with the sports club this school year,” says Taubert: The children should get to know different sports through trial lessons and be interested in more activities sportswomen participate again in their free time. For all these reasons, they have applied for the profile as a sports primary school.
According to Piazolo it is a “model with real added value”, because the award means that the school has had an extra physical education lesson since the beginning of the school year in first grade. The first grades now have three physical education lessons all year round. There are also 1,000 euros for the purchase of toys and sports equipment: “The school will use them to supplement the lunch boxes and buy additional small equipment for physical education lessons”.
In the future, a door sign will refer to the outline in the entrance area of the school. This “we see a recognition of our previous work,” explains Taubert. At the same time, the school is strongly motivated to keep bringing new ideas to the students in the areas of “exercise sports” and “healthy eating”.
