Through a partnership between the Ministry of Education and Early Childhood and Finance PEI, a low-interest loan pilot program was established to support the construction of early childhood centers (CPE) and the development of existing centers. The funding is intended to facilitate the creation of additional spaces in licensed child care centers across the province.
To be eligible for a low-interest loan, applicants must agree that the establishment will serve as an early childhood center and complete the CPE Location Assessment Tool form. of PEI. The tool provides a weighted score that will take into account the facility’s program priorities, including spaces for infants and young children, extended hours of operation and nonprofit status.
The low-interest loan pilot program for CPEs also includes a non-repayable capital subsidy which will cover 20% of the total cost of the construction or development project of an early childhood center, up to 200 $000 per project.
