Mexico City. The federal Ministry of Culture reported, in a letter sent to The Day that “one of our priority government plans is the strengthening of artistic education, through an open dialogue with all the actors involved to generate a joint agenda for the benefit of the student, academic and administrative community of all artistic schools.”
In response to the note published by this newspaper this Tuesday, October 8, it confirmed the content of the publication: “the open dialogue with the different student communities is reaffirmed, through the current authorities to schedule the dates for work tables committed to yesterday’s meeting, for the National Conservatory of Music and all the schools of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal).”
In the meeting held by the federal Secretary of Culture, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, with students from the Conservatory, where she went to respond to the students’ request and lift the strike, “the petition document was reviewed and an agreement was reached to hold commissions of “I work with representation from the different student, academic and administrative bodies to prepare a joint agenda and action plan.”
Regarding what the students said to this newspaper, he clarified that “at no time was it mentioned that the secretary Claudia Curiel would have more important things to attend to, but rather that a representative committee would be formed, because there are other commitments scheduled on the dates that the student community presented for the following meetings.”
The denial refers to the words that were spoken by one of the representatives of the students of the Higher School of Music, the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”, Classical and Contemporary Dance, and the Professional School of Theater, among others, which They closed the Tlalpan Causeway in Mexico City on Monday afternoon for three hours, upset because they assured that that was the response they received from the official and consequently they would go on indefinite strike.
In his response to The Daythe Ministry of Culture, insisted: “we are aware of the needs that affect these centers, which is why the present administration, as mentioned by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in the 100 points of her government plan, reaffirms the creation of the more ambitious system of formal and community artistic education and creation, to consolidate the Inbal schools and promote artistic education in schools.”
