The Ministry of Culture, within the framework of International Book and Copyright Day, which is celebrated every April 23, inaugurated the Cultural Space, called “Munichis, sowing culture”, in the Villa Munichis Populated Center, in the district from Yurimaguas, province of Alto Amazonas, in the Loreto region.
The mayor of Villa Munichis, Ronald Tangoa, and representatives of the Yurimaguas district participated in the activity. The facilities of this new space will allow access to culture, through books, readings and cultural activities.
The Minister of Culture, Leslie Urteaga, participated in the event virtually and there she said that “we will continue working hand in hand with the authorities to have more spaces for reading and enjoyment”, to the joy of girls and boys. She also highlighted the importance of this type of space, because access to reading should be a right and not a privilege.
This cultural initiative arises from the need to meet citizen demand, mainly from remote and vulnerable populations in the country, to have greater access to culture and specifically to books and reading. These are essential components to build citizenship with equal opportunities and an authentic democratization of cultural services for all, especially for girls and boys.
In this sense, the Ministry of Culture, reaffirming its commitment to the implementation of the National Policy for Reading, Books and Libraries by 2030, in coordination with the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Loreto, delivered an important donation of modern books for implement the cultural and reading space and other artistic materials to promote the promotion of reading.
In this way, the Town Center of Villa Munichis, thanks to the commitment of its authorities, more than 500 families will have access to information and other cultural rights to achieve their development and sustainability.
After the ribbon cutting and inauguration, the participants toured the cultural space and enjoyed the cultural activities and reading mediation, which were in charge of the Yurimaguas “Shungos” Cultural Board.
It should be noted that the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Loreto (DDCL), on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is developing multiple actions aligned with the priority objectives of the National Culture Policy by 2030.
