Ministry of Culture – 2021-10-25 Symposium on project-specific projects

The challenges in early childhood education have grown steadily over the past few years: needs for early childhood care, the desire to expand all-day care in day-care centers, the implementation of various measures for educational support – to name just a few keywords. In order to counter this, the “Carrier-specific, innovative projects Baden-Württemberg” (TiP), which the state is launching within the framework of the Good Day Care Act, are an important component. These help day-care centers for children to conceive and implement innovative ideas. To this end, the Ministry of Culture held a digital kick-off event today (October 25, 2021) in the form of a specialist conference.

“The diverse challenges in the educational area are also an opportunity for new approaches and sustainable content developments in day-care centers,” says State Secretary Volker Schebesta MdL. He adds: “The provider-specific, innovative projects are very valuable in this regard, because they make an important contribution to the quality development of early childhood education in our country. And an increase in quality is essential in order to meet future changes appropriately and in the long term. This is what the sponsor-specific, innovative projects in Baden-Württemberg stand for. “

Projects throughout Baden-Württemberg receive start-up funding

Against the background of the quality development in educational work, innovative projects have been created at the day-care centers in Baden-Württemberg, the implementation of which has already begun at the various project locations in the state. The different sponsorships and the variety of conceptual orientations of the institutions of early childhood education in Baden-Württemberg were taken into account. Single or multiple day-care centers or associations of day-care centers could apply for a project. Projects are organized by individual agencies or across agencies and are geared towards one or more municipalities. The project locations receive start-up funding over a period of two years (2021 and 2022) of up to 400,000 euros per year. The project locations are spread across Baden-Württemberg.

The aim of the projects is to increase quality in the areas of organizational and personnel development as well as content development. “Measures for personnel development, for the further development of pedagogical content and for structural changes make everyday work easier for pedagogical specialists. At the same time, they also benefit the children, as this can strengthen the educational work, ”says State Secretary Schebesta. The diversity of the projects also shows the great interest in the implementation of innovative ideas in early childhood, ranging from digitization to social work in kindergarten or new concepts for nature education. The knowledge gained in the course of the project could also be decisive for transferability to other educational institutions and thus set future-oriented impulses for early childhood education and care.

Exchange, networking and expert talk

At the conference, the participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences and formed networks. As part of the symposium, State Secretary Volker Schebesta took part in an expert talk on current topics from early childhood education. Renowned experts such as Prof. Dr. Kirsten Fuchs-Rechlin, head of the advanced training initiative for early childhood education specialists at the German Youth Institute, and Prof. Dr. Jeanette Roos, professor of developmental and educational psychology at the PH Heidelberg and head of the Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Also part of the discussion were Johanna Bächle, from the municipal office for education and culture of the city of Mühlacker, as well as Martina Blattner, head of the department for day care facilities, curative education and family centers in the Diakonisches Werk Oberschwaben Allgäu Bodensee. The experts from practice, Johanna Bächle and Martina Blattner, each implement a funded project.
